The Great Lakes Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (TCGM) opened all grant competitions this month: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.

The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) at the Department of Energy (DOE) issued a funding opportunity for the Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas (ERA) program. A number of grant resources have been developed to assist applicants. 

The Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy has published a new funding opportunity to continue to advance the clean energy transition on Tribal lands.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  has opened two new competitions to address solid waste under the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grant Program (SWIFR): one for Political Subdivisions/Communities and one for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia.

Today MTERA members include 26 Midwest Tribes and it offers services to all 35 Tribes in the region. MTERA seeks to alleviate the burden of planning, funding, and implementing energy projects for individual Tribes by providing free technical assistance through support to Tribes wherever they are in their energy journey. 

In November, 2023, President Biden announced approximately $2 billion in funding available to support community-driven projects that deploy clean energy, strengthen climate resilience, and build capacity for communities to tackle environmental and climate justice challenges. 

The clean energy transition is well underway, as Prairie Rivers Network’s Amanda Pankau saw firsthand last week in Washington D.C. 

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has released its FY24 notice of funding opportunity for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) Grant Program. The purpose of this program is to reconnect communities that have been harmed, isolated, and cut off from opportunity by transportation infrastructure. 

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy to Communities program provides Expert Match and Peer-Learning Cohorts to advance local clean energy goals.
