Transmission Siting & Economic Development Grants: Gearing up for Round Two!
On July 24, 2024, the US Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office announced twenty winners for the first round of the Transmission Siting and Economic Development Grant Program, awarding over $350 million to states and communities across the country. States, counties, and towns will build out workforce training programs, invest in grid infrastructure, and build community centers.
With the first round of the Transmission Siting and Economic Development Grant Program now complete, it's clear that many applicants face significant challenges in applying for competitive federal grants. Local governments often struggle with limited resources, while state governments are overwhelmed by the sheer number of funding programs they must manage.
As a result, many potential applicants either don’t apply or fail to secure funding despite their best efforts. By identifying and understanding these barriers, we can better support future applicants and help them access the funding they need to make a real impact in their communities.
At Great Plains Institute, we’re here to help. We’re working with applicants across the country to provide the support and resources needed to develop strong project ideas and submit compelling applications. Join our upcoming webinar to learn about the winning projects selected by the US Department of Energy and discover how we can help you overcome these barriers and secure the funding you need to make a difference in your community.
