Featured Grants and Funding Opportunities

As part of its mission, the Great Lakes TCTAC is committed to supporting community organizations successfully navigate funding opportunities. This support includes providing technical assistance for climate and environmental projects from proposal concept to grant implementation. 

The following grants have been identified by our TCTAC team and partners as high priority opportunities for our region and the communities and partners we serve but it is not an exhaustive list of all funding and grant opportunities. Current Funding Opportunities

The Great Lakes Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (TCGM) is open! Grants will remain open through Fall of 2026. The TCGM will accept applications on a rolling basis and make awards every 3-4 months. 

The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations at the Department of Energy issued a funding opportunity for the Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas program. 

Archived Funding Opportunities

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program is designed to assist states, local governments, and Tribes in implementing strategies to reduce energy use, to reduce fossil fuel emissions, and to improve energy efficiency.

The Environmental Protection Agency has opened two new competitions to address solid waste under the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grant Program (SWIFR): one for Political Subdivisions/Communities and one for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia.

The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program provides $5 billion in grants to states, local governments, Tribes and Territories to develop and implement ambitious plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. Authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act, the first phase of the program provided $250 million for noncompetitive planning grants and is currently accepting applications totaling approximately $4.6 billion for competitive implementation grants.

The Community Change Grant Program offers an unprecedented opportunity to transform communities affected by environmental justice across the United States into healthy, climate resilient, and thriving communities for their current and future residents. The program will fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation.

The EPA anticipates awarding up to $932 million in competitive grant funding under the 2024 Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grants Program Notice of Funding Opportunity. The program is soliciting applications nationwide for a grant competition to fund the replacement of existing non-zero-emission Class 6 and 7 heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission Class 6 and 7 heavy-duty vehicles.
